4 Ways To Save Money On Bills This Summer
Between air conditioning, fans, and the use of other appliances this season, it can be hard to maintain the costs of your energy bills. The team at Farmington Insurance Agency has put together this list of tips to help you and your family save money on your bills this summer, so you can enjoy this beautiful season as much as possible!
4 ways to save money on your energy bills this summer:
- On days where it is not very hot, you can save money while still cooling down your home by opening the windows. Let some fresh (and free) air in as much as you can before turning to your air conditioner!
- As the temperatures rise, most people believe that the only way to keep their home cool is to turn the air conditioning into overdrive. However, this can actually work against you in the long run. If it is really warm outside, then you actually can turn up your thermostat higher than you normally would and still feel cool. Think of it this way, if it is in the 80s or 90s outside, you will still be comfortable inside if your thermostat is set to 75 degrees. Just increasing the base temperature from 68 to 75 on hot days can not only help you save money on your energy bill, but this can also protect your air conditioning system. Setting the thermostat for low temperatures during hot outdoor conditions can cause your AC to develop issues and even break completely!
- If you know you will be gone all day, for example while you are at work, there is no need to leave your air conditioning or fans on while you’re away! That is wasted energy and money that you can avoid by simply turning on your system right when you get home, or by pre-setting it to turn on and off at certain times.
- When you are not using appliances or electronics, it can help you conserve energy by unplugging them completely from the outlet. Simply turning off appliances does not stop the flow of electricity, so it can be a waste of energy to leave unused appliances plugged in for periods of time!
As the summer approaches, keep these tips in mind to help you save some money and enjoy the season even more.
